Thankful Thursday – turning thanks into prayer requests

Thankful Thursday – turning thanks into prayer requests

What are you thankful for today?

I’m thankful for a loving spouse that I get to do life with. I never want to take for granted what we have, but instead want to thank the Lord for what He has given us.

I’m thankful that we can grow together in Christ, cry together, laugh together, confess our sins to each other, forgive each other, and just do everyday life together. I’m thankful that though he is not perfect, he is sensitive to the Holy Spirit and desires to grow in his walk with Christ.

So what are you thankful for?

Rabbit trail: Since I started the “Thankful Thursdays” on the blog, I’ve noticed a pattern. I’ve noticed that when I’m thankful for something and express it out loud or publicly, it makes me think of those who do not have what I’m being thankful for. So today, my heart was prompted to pray for those who do not have a spouse and desire one, for those who are in a difficult or non-existing relationship with their spouse, and for those who have lost their spouse.

Just recently, I’ve also started a habit with my daughter that when she starts complaining or has a fit about something, we stop and verbally share something we are thankful for.

I love these two new things God has brought to my attention lately. They are teaching me that I can always turn my prayers requests (or complaining spirit) “on their heads” and find something to be thankful for. They are also teaching me that I can always find something to pray for others when I’m being thankful. Huh! Thankfulness and prayer requests really do go hand in hand! Now where have I heard something like that before? 🙂

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  • I, too, am thankful for a loving any understanding husband. He supports my desire to reach out and help people. He understands my desire, and God given gift, to minister to those who need a few minutes or many hours to be with them. He willingly cleans my kitchen or does the laundry so I don’t feel those pressures. I’m thankful, in return, that he is a giving person a well, loving to help people fix their vehicles. Thank you God for bringing me my soul mate of 7 years.
