Discovering beauty in the ordinary

Day 86 / Day 4 evening

Day 86 / Day 4 evening

Not gonna lie, it’s been a rough one. Kind of feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck. So far, this recovery has been a little rougher than the first one. I’m told part of that is because of them going back a second time on the same incision and having to work through scar tissue.

I’m still forcing myself to go on walks, because I know in the long run they will help me heal. It’s just about the last thing I want to do though 🙂 Those of you that are runners are smiling right now, I know!

Since I’m gonna be sleeping now and won’t mind being extra drowsy, I went ahead and took a little higher dose of pain meds. We’ll see if that helps a little. It may just have to be my “new normal” for a day or two, which I don’t like because of drowsiness and possible constipation. Pray for wisdom as I consider the benefits/risks in this.

Bowels are working well. Feeling a little bloated but this last walk helped with some of that. Please keep praying it doesn’t back up.

So, as rough as it has been, things are moving forward. Pray for perseverance in enduring, in doing the hard but good things, and in trusting the Lord and not getting discouraged.

Thank you all! Merry Christmas Eve!

P.S. – in the midst of the “difficult,” God sent me a beautiful gift of encouragement through one of my Nursing Assistants. We got to swap adoption stories (she and her siblings were adopted) and ended up being totally encouraged by each other exactly how we needed it. God is amazing!
