Update: I got some good sleep last night, though maybe not normal sleep. I would sleep for two hours, get vitals checked and go to the bathroom, then go for a walk. Then I’d start the routine all over again. I did this about 5 times so got a good amount of sleep. The walks are my best way of getting better, even if at first they don’t feel great. I got a lot stronger today. Pretty much everyone remarked I look much better.
I started eating solids today, and tolerated them well so far. They will turn off the epidural meds tomorrow morning and start me on oral meds to see how I tolerate those. If that goes well will just keep tweaking the oral meds to what works, and I should go home Saturday morning.
One of the residents even mentioned me going home tomorrow afternoon, but I feel more comfortable with spending one full night at the hospital without the epidural to see how it goes, and she thought that was a good idea. I appreciated that she wanted me home for Christmas. But the nights are always my most difficult time, and I’ll be glad to have the extra help here at the hospital if I need it.
Thank you all for your prayers, they are much felt and appreciated. Now off to start my nighttime routine! Goodnight all!
