Day 82 / Day of 2nd surgery

Update from Jeremy:

Thanks for all the prayers today for Anouk’s surgery. It’s been a long day and I haven’t had a chance to update on FB. Here is the summary (as far as I understand it!):

The procedure took much longer than expected. Instead of 2-3 hours, it ended up being over 7 hours of surgery. The reason for the longer surgery was because they had to surgically separate areas that had adhered to each other blocking the surgeons access to where he needed to work.

In addition to this extra surgery, a good amount of endometriosis was found on her remaining ovary. Consequently, the ovary had to be removed as well.

Even though the reattachment was successful, an ileostomy bag was given to Anouk because of inflammation due to the extra surgical work necessary. She will have this bag for at least 8 weeks.

Please pray for her pain management. She had an epidural, but it had to be shut off tonight due to numbness in her left leg. So, they are trying other pain management solutions, with little success right now.

Thank you for the prayers, texts, emails, etc. Anouk and I feel blessed to have so many friends who care about us.
