Day 10 – Don’t forget the budget!

Day 10 – Don’t forget the budget!

Update:

Thank you for your prayers. I think I am healing well. I have a feeling I will have to get my staples out when home health care comes on Monday (11 days) instead of waiting until my post op on Thursday (14 days)!

I did end up going back to taking one oxycodone/opiate at night (that first night without it was bad) but other than that I just take an Aleve at night and one during the day.

I can pretty much eat anything now (still low fiber), and the nausea is gone (yesterday’s biggest struggle was the nausea – I was hungry but things didn’t sound good). Since I’m such a wimp with nausea, I’m glad that’s gone.

Still need to get used to my new appendage and the feelings/sensations, but at least it doesn’t hurt. Also getting used to missing a couple of other body parts – a lot of healing going on 🙂 Not a weight loss program I would recommend.

I am so so so thankful to have my mom with us. She has been such a blessing taking over the household responsibilities and managing meals, as well as entertaining kids if I need a nap. It has allowed Jeremy to go back to work and me to rest and not worry about anything but getting better.

Also thankful for all the help and support and prayers from so many of you. It’s been overwhelming to see the support pouring in from social media, snail mail, messages, meals, etc. Thank you all so much!!

Prayer request: we are praying that since I heal so quickly (I’ve always healed quickly and scarred well), that we will be able to reverse the ostomy and reattach my colon before the end of the year. This would be huge because it would mean the surgery expense would be covered since this emergency surgery and hospital stay pretty much made us meet our deductible this calendar year! Usually they like to wait 3 months before reattaching, which to the day would mean December 28th. I’m not sure if the medical field really wants to schedule surgeries around the holidays, but it would sure save us money!! Thanks for praying with us.
